I'm Marc, Hi Maestro's founder and Chief Maestro.
Hi Maestro started with my own struggle to answer the seemingly simple question: When can I retire?
I quickly found that this question wasn't as straightforward or as simple as I had thought.
The free online calculators used very limited assumptions, and immediately overwhelmed me with aggressive sales pitches from financial advisors. The financial advisors I spoke with were expensive, and I mostly felt like I would be paying for someone to enter my information into their application. "Shouldn't I be able to do that myself?" I thought.
I knew there had to be a better way. So in 2025, I started building one.
I built Hi Maestro for people who want an affordable real plan. People who want sophisticated calculations that account for taxes, inflation, and the actual phases of retirement, presented in plain English. People who want a tool that works for them, not one that's secretly working to sell them something else.
After 6 months of building and testing, Hi Maestro launched in April 2026.

A bit more about me
I have an MBA in Finance and have spent 20+ years in technology, primarily in product management leadership roles. Most recently, I was Chief Product Officer at two venture-backed startups in the sustainability space.
I grew up in Texas and now live in San Diego with my wife and our two co-Chief Canine Officers (K9Os). The K9Os have strong opinions on post-breakfast naps, peanut butter, and retirement.

Meet Mae.
MaE-3, or, as his friends call him, "Mae," has a passion for retirement planning and the symphony. He's Hi Maestro's resident helper and guide.
Mae grew up on the planet Fintendy. Unlike most of his friends, who mostly passed the time playing cyberball, Mae was extremely studious and loved nothing more than sitting outside, under the faintly warm glow of his triple sun, studying the intricacies of retirement planning.
As fate would have it, one day during his second year of university studies, he was running late for class. Instead of taking his usual path, he hoped that an alternative route would get him to class faster. He sped past block after block of drab student residences when he heard the most melodious sound that his young ears had ever heard. He immediately stopped and turned towards the open window where the music emanated.
His inner circuitry danced, and a mechanical purr lightly sang from his chest. The music, a recording from Herbert von Karajan and the Berlin Philharmonic, was unlike anything he had previously encountered. He was instantly enchanted. From that moment, he knew that he would forever marry his love of retirement planning with this exquisite music.
